Mastercard Poised to Acquire Crypto Startup Zerohash for Nearly $2 Billion
Mastercard is reportedly in the final stages of negotiations to purchase crypto-infrastructure firm Zerohash for between $1.5 and $2 billion, according to sources familiar with the deal.
Zerohash specialises in building stable-coin, trading and custody infrastructure for institutional clients. The acquisition would mark one of Mastercard’s largest commitments into the crypto space, reflecting how payment giants are embracing blockchain technologies and digital-asset ecosystems. The deal is still subject to regulatory review and could fall through, but its announcement already boosted market speculation about the next wave of consolidation in digital-asset infrastructure.
